Top 5 things to add to your wedding to give it a personal touch!

Feb 3rd, 2023 | Wedding planning

When planning a beach wedding, you want it to be completely you. You want to make your wedding an unforgettable experience for everyone, and that’s why you chose the beach as your ceremony location! You want your big day to be a perfect representation of you and your fiance. So how do you go above and beyond to make your wedding more personalized?

Here are the top 5 things to add to your wedding to give it a personal touch.

1. Ceremony additions.

There are many things you could add to your beach ceremony to give it a more unique touch.

a. Sand unity. A sand unity is when you and your fiance take two separate colors of sand and pour them into one vessel, symbolically representing that you two are becoming one. Another amazing idea with the sand unity is including sand from the beach you are getting married on! What better addition to your home together than a keepsake container of your special day?

b. Knot ceremony. The knot ceremony has a rope that you and your fiance can tie together; physically “tying the knot”. Cute!

c. Special prayer from family or friends. If you are both religious, this would be a beautiful touch to include someone special in the ceremony with words of your beliefs.

e. Including bubbles on guests’ seats for a beach-friendly, photo-worthy recessional!

2. Ceremony decor.

Your ceremony decorations set the mood for your guests! Here are some quick ideas to think about adding to your ceremony.

a. Shepherd hook aisle with silk flower pomanders to give your aisle an extra flare.

b. Personalized sign. This sign could say you and your fiance’s names and wedding date, a “choose a seat, not a side” sign, and more!

c. Chair sashes in your wedding colors.

d. Have your flower girl throw seashells instead of flower petals for a more beachy touch!

e. Sand dusters for guests to dust their feet after the ceremony.

3. Unplugged ceremony.

In this day and age, everyone has their phone on them. On your wedding day, you can expect no less; everyone wants a picture of you! However, phones may get in the way of your photographer or videographer. Consider having an unplugged ceremony! With a sign at the start of your aisle explaining your wishes, you can avoid having cellphones ruining the shot. This also encourages your guests to be present and truly enjoy your ceremony.

4. Bonfire.

What better way to commemorate your special day than with a bonfire? If you and your partner aren’t the types to have a big reception, a bonfire is a more relaxed and enjoyable way to commemorate your marriage. After you’ve taken your pictures and as the sun sets, have your family and friends circle around the fire to end the night!

5. Last dance.

This idea is a sentimental way to end your reception. You and your partner would choose a special song, and have all of your guests leave your reception venue. With just the two of you, your DJ would play your song, and you would both have the last dance of the night. Wedding days can be such a whirlwind; it would be an amazing touch to be able to have a moment with just your partner to process the day. Not to mention, this would be a beautiful picture; you both holding each other as the venue is empty!

Not only would this be a sweet moment, but your guests could get ready outside for your exit. Think of sparklers as your guests say farewell! This would be such a dazzling moment for you and your guests.

Your wedding day is all about you and your partner. Make sure to make it special for you both. And everyone is different! You might not want a huge production, and that’s totally okay. Add your own personal touches to truly make day yours. Happy wedding planning!
